Special luggage
Mechanically operated wheelchairs

Acceptance on flight: To prevent delays to the aircraft and for full flight safety, mechanically operated wheelchairs will be accepted for flight only in the hold as long as they meet the following requirements:

With wheels driven by dry batteries: Wheelchairs equipped with non-spill accumulators may be carried as check-in luggage as long as the accumulator is disconnected, its terminals are insulated to prevent short-circuits and the accumulator is properly fixed to the wheelchair.

Wheelchairs driven by wet batteries: Wheelchairs equipped with spillable accumulators may be carried as checked luggage as long as the wheelchair can be loaded, tied down, fixed and unloaded always in a vertical position and that the accumulator is disconnected and fixed to the chair and its terminals are insulated to prevent accidents. If these requirements are not met, the accumulator must be separated from the chair, which can then be carried as checked luggage. The accumulator must be suitably packed as follows: the packing must be sealed, unalterable by electrolyte and protected against violent movements.

Accumulators must be protected against short circuits and be carried vertically in packages surrounded by absorbent material.

Luggage allowance: Mechanically operated wheelchairs are considered to be the passenger’s personal articles or accessories and are therefore not subject to excess baggage charges as long as their use is essential for passengers in special physical conditions who must be registered for the flight as mobility impaired person.

Electronic equipment

For safety reasons and to prevent any interferences with the aircraft's electronic communications and navigation equipment, and to prevent annoyance to passengers, the use on board of portable radio equipment, both transmitters and receivers, cell phones, compact disc players, video cameras, laptop computers, remote control games and devices with light emitting diode (LED) screens is forbidden.

If any of these items of equipment must be included in checked luggage, remember that they must be switched off.

Sports equipment

Passengers carrying sports equipment are allowed 5 kg of luggage in addition to that allowed by the tariff.

The additional allowance of 5 kg applies only and exclusively to the transport of sporting material, this being understood as all equipment used for practicing sports: diving, surf or boogie equipment, wind or kite surfing, parachuting, golf equipment, bicycle equipment and skiing equipment.

The sports equipment has no limitation on weight or number of items.

The total weight of the sports equipment will be deducted from the normal allowance for the tariff or the customer’s condition as a Passageiro Frequente Gold or Passageiro Frequente Silver customer as well as the additional 5 kg for sports equipment.

All sports equipment is subject to the availability of space in the aircraft’s hold.

Space reservation: for acceptance on the flight, the space must be reserved before the passenger checks in.

Acceptance on flight: On being accepted for flight, all items of sports equipment must be suitably placed and fixed so that they do not cause nuisance or damage during embarkation, transport and disembarkation.

Presentation of passenger at the airport: Given the nature of this equipment, the passenger must arrive at the airport sufficiently beforehand to allow for the checking in and transport of the equipment to the aircraft and its loading into the hold.

Excess luggage:

When the weight of the sports equipment plus the weight of the passenger’s luggage does not exceed the allowance (normal allowance and additional 5 kg), there will be no special surcharge. When sports equipment plus the passenger’s luggage exceeds the allowance, the passenger must pay the amount for the excess luggage for the journey.

Special conditions for some items of equipment:

Surfing, windsurfing and other sports with sails/masts/boards

Taking into account their properties, which normally prevent their transport on luggage belts, the use of a system that facilitates the carrying of this equipment from the check-in area to the aircraft is left to the judgement of the company's staff. The passenger will be responsible for the costs arising from this item. In international flights, Surf boards, Windsurf, Kitesurf and Kayaks are limited to maximum dimensions of 158 cm.

Diving equipment

The oxygen bottle must be empty (unpressurised). The lamp must be disconnected from its power supply.

Golf equipment

On being accepted flight, the golf clubs must be properly fixed inside the bag so that they do not cause nuisance or damage during embarking, transport and disembarking.

If the bicycle is not packed, the pedals must be removed, the handlebar rotated so that it does not protrude and the wheels fixed and partially deflated.

Luggage with declared value

When a passenger for a TICV flight has luggage for which he or she wishes to make a special value declaration, the following rules will apply.

Check-in time: passengers wishing to ensure luggage with a special value declaration must check in sufficiently beforehand, at least three hours before the scheduled flight departure time, to carry out the following procedures.

Opening of luggage: the passenger will be asked to open the luggage with contents of a special value, an essential requirement for formalising the relevant excess luggage ticket being the pre-existence of the objects to be valued. The employee in attendance will check that the objects to be valued are those that are in the luggage and to the quantity described by the passenger. Once this has been checked, the passenger will be asked to lock the luggage.

Declaration limits: accept luggage in these conditions, its value must exceed €400 per unit. The maximum declared value per passenger must not exceed €2000 or its equivalent.

Charges: the percentage to be paid on the value declared by the passenger is 15%, the issuing of an excess baggage ticket being necessary.

Transport connections with other companies: luggage with value declarations will not be accepted for transport on other airlines unless these agree to it.

Extra seating for luggage:

Luggage which, because of its value or fragile nature, is carried in the cabin at the passenger’s request, using or occupying additional seating, under the personal safekeeping of the passenger (for example, musical instruments, works of art, jewellery, etc).

The maximum weight limit is 75 kg per reserved seat. This is not included in the passenger's allowance and its cost will be that which the passenger would pay to occupy the seat in the sector, applicable at the time of reserving the additional seat.

The reservation must always be made beforehand, giving the nature of the object, its weight and measurements in the request to ensure it is allowed on board since space in the aircraft (width x height x length) is limited.
